MAPALA Universitas Islam Riau’s Activities in Supporting a Sustainable Campus. MAPALA (Nature Lovers Student Organization) of Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) is a student organization actively engaged in environmental conservation, ecological education, and campus-based advocacy for sustainability. As part of UIR’s commitment to sustainable development, MAPALA consistently conducts various programs that support environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives.

Key activities of MAPALA UIR include tree planting on campus and in post-disaster areas, household waste management training based on the 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), and river and green space clean-up campaigns. MAPALA also promotes educational campaigns under the theme “Zero Waste Campus” and energy-saving movements through social media and direct actions on campus.

In addition, MAPALA UIR is involved in the exploration and conservation of local natural resources and organizes disaster risk reduction training for both students and the surrounding community. These activities are conducted collaboratively with university departments, local government, and environmental communities.
