UKM Desa

The Student Village Organization (UKM Desa Mahasiswa) of Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) is a student activity unit focused on empowering rural communities through educational, social, economic, and environmental approaches. This organization serves as a concrete implementation of the university’s Tri Dharma—particularly in the area of community service.

The main activities of this student unit include sustainable agriculture education, entrepreneurship training for village-based MSMEs, literacy and tutoring programs for village children, as well as health and sanitation awareness campaigns. In addition, students conduct environmental conservation efforts such as tree planting, waste management, and the utilization of local resources based on traditional wisdom.

Programs under the Student Village Organization are carried out sustainably in various partner villages across Riau Province, using a participatory approach involving village officials, community leaders, and youth groups. Each initiative is designed to build village self-reliance and foster a spirit of mutual cooperation between students and the local community.

Through this organization, UIR students not only develop social awareness and leadership skills but also make a real contribution to building sustainable rural development, in alignment with Islamic values and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
